BelTA receives Golden Letter Grand Prix for Minsk and Minskers project

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – The Grand Prix of the 14th national contest of printed mass media Golden Letter went to BelTA for its Minsk and Minskers project to mark the 950th anniversary of the Belarusian capital, BelTA informs.

The Golden Letter statuette was presented to BelTA Director General Irina Akulovich by Belarus' Information Minister Alexander Karlyukevich. The head of the news agency said that a big team of professionals was involved in the work on the project. “These are the people who love their profession, love Minsk, love their country,” she said. Irina Akulovich thanked everyone for support and trust, and called upon the colleagues to continue writing the history of the country.

BelTA's 7 Dnei newspaper got the statuette for its project Awards of Sovereign Belarus. BelTA reporter Mikhail Matiyevsky received a diploma for the coverage of the Belarus president's activities.

The Golden Letter awards also went to Mogilevskaya Pravda newspaper, Minsk-Novosti agency, Sovetskaya Belorussiya newspaper, the newspapers Litaratura i Mastatstva and Grodzenskaya Prauda, Lidskaya Gazeta newspaper, the Baranovichi newspaper Nash Krai, Perspektiva newspaper (Grodno Oblast), the Rechitsa newspaper Dnyaprovets, Nash Chas newspaper from Volkovysk, and many more.

Zapad 2017 project of the Vayar military news agency of the Armed Forces of Belarus was named the best internet project.

BelTA's reporter Svetlana Savko was named the best reporter of the 14th national contest of printed mass media Golden Letter. BelTA's photo reporter Oksana Manchuk won a diploma as the best photo reporter of national and regional printed mass media and news agencies.

A total of 260 applications were submitted to 24 nominations of the 14th national contest of printed mass media Golden Letter.

The main purpose of the Golden Letter contest is to encourage the development of printed mass media and news agencies in Belarus. It is also supposed to update significant thematic directions in the work of printed media as they implement the state information policy. The contest also helps improve the professional level and the content level of printed media, encourage creative efforts of reporters and other creative workers involved in the production of printed media as well as press secretaries and personnel of press services of government agencies and organizations.

The Belarusian Information Ministry is the organizer of the contest.
