Belavia to launch flights to Moscow's Zhukovsky airport on 12 September

MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) - Belavia air carrier will start flying to Moscow's new airport Zhukovsky on 12 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the air carrier.

“Belavia will be the first carrier to begin flights to Zhukovsky, the new airport in Moscow Oblast. Flights will be performed daily starting from 12 September,” the press service informed.

On Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday Belavia will operate a morning flight (departing from Minsk at 08.15 Minsk time). On other days the flight will depart in the evening (at 18.05). A one-way ticket will cost €34, a return ticket - €63, including taxes and charges.

“The passenger traffic on the existing Minsk-Moscow is constantly growing. Still a large number of people prefer other modes of transport because of the lower cost. We hope that the fare we offer will enable us to compete successfully with land transport, make air travel more attractive and affordable. For the time being we will perform flights once a day, but if we see interest from passengers, we will increase the frequency,” Belavia Director General Anatoly Gusarov said.

At the moment the Belarusian carrier operates scheduled flights to the following Russian airports: Domodedovo Airport (Moscow), Pulkovo International Airport (St. Petersburg), Krasnodar International Airport, Sochi International Airport, Khrabrovo International Airport (Kaliningrad). In accordance with the agreement on joint operation of airlines with Sibir Airline (operating carrier) Belavia, as a marketing carrier, performs flights from Moscow to Yekaterinburg, Samara, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Volgograd, Krasnoyarsk, Tyumen, Nizhnevartovsk and back.

Zhukovsky International Airport is a new airport located in the south-east of Moscow Oblast, 23km away from the Russian capital.
