MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – It is more convenient to fly to some foreign resorts from Belarusian airports than foreign ones. The opinion was voiced by Chairman of the Republican Tourism Industry Union Filipp Guly during a roundtable session held in BelTA's press center to discuss what should be changed in the Belarusian tourism industry and why.
According to Filipp Guly, today's prices are totally different from what they were several years ago. It is more convenient for Belarusians to fly from domestic airports to some foreign resorts. “I think the situation will level off with time. We intend to scrupulously analyze flight options available in Belarus and neighboring countries. It will demonstrate the real situation. I think we will be able to present this analytics in October,” he said.
The Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry is ready to pitch in and share the necessary data. Everyone will benefit from it, believes Vitaly Gritsevich, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department of the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry.
Filipp Guly stressed that tourists, who opt for cheap flights with foreign low-cost airlines, sometimes fail to understand that the choice involves certain risks. The inability of Belarusian tourists to leave Kiev for recreation due to the airlines BravoAirways and AndaAir cancelling their flights is a case in point.
“We should concentrate this market inside our own country. The national air carrier and the national travel agencies are willing and capable of making flights from Belarus more advantageous and cheaper,” the chairman of the Republican Tourism Industry Union was convinced.
