Belarusians advised to avoid rally venues in Stockholm on 25 August

MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian Embassy in Sweden recommends Belarusian nationals to avoid demonstration venues in Stockholm on 25 August in view of possible clashes. The information was posted on the website of the diplomatic mission, BelTA has learned.

According to the embassy, the Nordic Resistance Movement, a far-right organization, was granted permission by Swedish authorities to hold a rally in Stockholm on 25 August. “Participants of the rally will gather at the park in the Kungsholmstorg area and proceed to Kungsholmen district. The permission to take part in the rally was given to 50-3,000 people,” the diplomatic mission informed.

However, according to media reports, nearly 2,000 people announced their plans in social networks to join the rally. Another 7,500 expressed interest in the event. A separate rally will be held by the Revolutionary Communist Youth in the Norra Bantorget area of the city the same day.

“Taking into consideration a possibility of unrest, we advise Belarusian nationals to avoid places of rallies,” the embassy noted.
