Belarusian veterans thanked for active civic involvement

MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Belarus highly values the civic-mindedness of the veterans, Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalia Kochanova said during an event to mark the 30th anniversary of the Belarusian Public Association of Veterans, BelTA has learned.

Natalia Kochanova thanked the veterans for their civic-mindedness, for what they have done for the country's prosperity. “In many ways it is thanks to you that we live peacefully in such a beautiful country as Belarus,” Natalia Kochanova said. “The head of state always highly appreciates the contribution of our senior citizens to the country's development.”

Natalia Kochanova read out a message of greetings from Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to the Belarusian Public Association of Veterans on the 30th anniversary of the organization. “Your association has implemented many interesting projects, conducted major events and initiatives. You make an invaluable contribution to the stability and peace in Belarus, teach the younger generation ethical principles and patriotism. Your life and work experience, professionalism and personal qualities are an example to follow,” reads the message.

Natalia Kochanova presented certificates of merit from the President Administration to the active members of the association.

Chairman of the National Council of the Belarusian Public Association of Veterans Ivan Gordeychik remarked that representatives of the older generations will always be the mainstay of the state and society. They will always take an active part in the most important political events, activity of public authorities, civil and patriotic, labor and international educational events for the youth. “Veterans make a fair contribution to the stability and peace in the country,” Ivan Gordeychik noted. He added that in Belarus all conditions are created for the associations of veterans to achieve their statutory aims and objectives.

Partaking in the event were the representatives of Belarusian public authorities and organizations, non-governmental associations and Belarusian and Moldovan veterans.
