Belarusian Tax Ministry pleased with partnership with EU

MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Cooperation between Belarus and the European Union in economic and tax affairs was discussed in Minsk by Belarusian Tax and Duties Minister Sergei Nalivaiko and Head of the European Union Delegation to Belarus Andrea Wiktorin, BelTA learned from the Tax and Duties Ministry's press service after the meeting.

During the meeting the Belarusian Tax and Duties Minister mentioned with satisfaction the high level of cooperation and productiveness of the Ministry's partnership with tax administrations of European countries.

According to Sergei Nalivaiko, Belarus has already done a lot to sign international agreements to avoid double taxation with many European nations and this work continues. “We cooperate with European tax administrations in many matters. It is this activity that spurs the Belarusian tax service towards continuous development of information exchange with colleagues from Europe,” said the press service.

The Minister said he was interested in getting more familiar with the information technologies developed in Western countries as well as tax administration and oversight methods, cutting-edge practices used to apply transfer pricing norms.

On the whole, Andrea Wiktorin and Sergei Nalivaiko talked about not only economic matters but also social and humanitarian ones. The sides agreed to work together to find new forms of cooperation between Belarus and the European Union in such important spheres as investment activities. The sides also agreed to promote the development of foreign economic and trade ties.
