Belarusian State University to host geographical dictation

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – The international education campaign Geographical Dictation will be held for the first time in the Belarusian State University on 26 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the university.

The dictation will include 30 tasks divided into three blocks.

Participants will test their knowledge of geographical notions and terms, location of objects on the map, and also in determining location according to the records of travelers' diaries and excerpts from books.

The main goal of the event is to assess the level of geographical literacy of the population. In total, you can score 100 points at the dictation. Anyone regardless of age, education and citizenship can check their knowledge.

Another venue to write the dictation will be the Pushkin Brest State University. The event in Belarus is supported by the Belarusian Geographical Society.

The geographical dictation was first held in 2015 under the initiative of the Russian Geographical Community. Until 2017 it was a Russian event. Starting this season it has acquired an international status. This year it will be held in 26 countries: Belarus, Russia, Poland, Australia, Argentina, Azerbaijan, the UK, Denmark, Norway, Serbia, Syria, Turkey, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, China, Romania, and others.

The results will be announced on 25 December. The information will be available on the websites of the organizers.
