Belarusian short film wins prize at second Chinese International Contest

MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) - My Brother, a short film by the Belarusian screenwriter and director Nella Vasilevskaya, received the Best Foreign Film award at the Second Chinese International Short Film Contest “Golden Kite”, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in China.

The event took place in Weifang, Shandong Province from 16 to 18 January 2018. The contest was arranged by the organizing committee of the Asian Short Film Festival. The contest saw over 2,000 pictures from Belarus, China, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cuba, Spain, the USA, Uruguay, France, and other countries compete for victory in 19 nominations, including for Best Screenplay, Best Directing, and Best Film.

My Brother, a short film by the young Belarusian director Nella Vasilevskaya, is about relations between two cousins. This is a story about a serious test, love and jealousy. The film stars Aleksei Leshkevich, Yaroslav Rusetsky, Svetlana Kozhemyakina, and Dmitry Abazovik. My Brother was produced with the support of the Belarusian Culture Ministry.

Earlier on, the picture was screened at the International Student Film Festival Golden Five (Moscow, Russia) in 2017, the third Film Festival Saint Vladimir (Simferopol) 2017, the fourth International Film Festival KiTy (Mariupol, Ukraine) in 2016, and the 36th VGIK International Student Festival (Moscow, Russia) in 2016.
