Belarusian-Russian-Serbian army exercise over in Brest Oblast

BREST, 15 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Russian-Serbian army exercise Slavic Brotherhood 2017 ended in Brest Oblast on 15 June, BelTA has learned.

Vadim Denisenko, Chief of the Special Operations Command of the Belarusian army, said: “The international tactical group is ready to carry out missions anywhere. We had no language problems. The soldiers operated in mixed groups and did fine. We carried out all the missions without deviating from the scenario. The weather could have been a bit better but the level of training of the military personnel allowed us to do the job. The guys did great.”

Certificates of merit were presented to the best troops on 15 June. The ceremony ended with a solemn march of paratroopers from the three countries.

The Belarusian-Russian-Serbian tactical exercise Slavic Brotherhood 2017 began on 6 June. For two weeks representatives of the Belarusian, Russian, and Serbian armies worked together to carry out combat missions. They parachuted in daytime and at night, crossed multiple water obstacles, and had a lot of target practice at night. The active phase of the exercise took place on 12-14 June. The personnel carried out a counterterrorism operation. Military attaches from over 20 countries watched it happen at a hydroengineering complex in Brest.

Over 1,000 military personnel took part in the exercise. Over 150 units of equipment were involved in the exercise. Belarus was represented by the 38th Independent Guards Airborne Brigade. Russia was represented by personnel of the 76th Airborne Division of the Russian Airborne Forces. Serbia was represented by the 63rd Parachute Battalion of a special brigade of the Serbian army.
