Belarusian, Russian military discuss joint air space protection

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Matters concerning the protection of the external air border of the Union State of Belarus and Russia were discussed during a regular session of the boards of the Belarusian and Russian defense ministries in the Russian Federation national defense control center in Moscow on 10 November, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian delegation was led by Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov. A number of important matters concerning the future operation of the regional military force, the joint protection of the Belarus-Russia Union external border in air space, interaction in radioelectronic warfare, ways to improve the united Belarusian-Russian army communication system were discussed.

Results of the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017 were summed up. The sides confirmed the high level of interaction of the Belarusian and Russian armies in the course of joint events.

The sides adopted the plan for cooperation between the Belarusian and Russian defense ministries and the schedule for joint sessions in 2018. Representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA that the session once again confirmed the need to further reinforce the defense potential of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. It indicated the irreversibility of the Belarusian-Russian military integration process.
