Belarusian, Russian interior ministries to continue fighting organized crime together

MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian Interior Ministry and the Russian Interior Ministry have accumulated vast and unique experience of fighting organized crime. This experience will only grow larger in the future. Belarusian Interior Minister Igor Shunevich made the statement after the session of the joint board of the interior ministries of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on 14 June, BelTA has learned.

Igor Shunevich remarked that fighting the organized crime elite will always be of current interest, however, the Belarusian and Russian law enforcement agencies have managed to reduce this social phenomenon to an acceptable level. “The portrait of criminals has not changed that much. Certain traits have become more pronounced. The criminal world develops faster than global progress. Our job is to work out measures that will be adequate to modern challenges and threats,” stressed the Interior Minister.

At the end of the session of the joint board the Belarusian and Russian interior ministries signed documents on jointly fighting organized crime, on bolstering cooperation between Belarusian and Russian law enforcement agencies in protecting public peace and counteracting transport crimes. The sides also worked out the plan for the joint board's work in 2017. Plans have been made to discuss migration processes and cooperation between bordering regions of Belarus and Russia. Upon the initiative of Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev the next session will take place in Kazan.
