Belarusian mass media urged to thoughtfully cover country's development

MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – Belarusian mass media should take a profound and thoughtful look at how the country develops. Belarusian Information Minister Lilia Ananich made the statement before the plenary session of the fifth forum of young reporters in Minsk on 18 November, BelTA has learned.

The Information Minister pointed out that the theme of the forum “A common look into the future. Moral dimension of mass media” has a lot in common with the topic the Belarus president had raised the day before while talking to representatives of Russian regional mass media. The head of state said that delivering truthful important was important. “Truthful information is moral information,” noted Lilia Ananich. “The country has great tasks to accomplish, the country has great prospects and is going through a responsible historical period of development. Delivering perfect coverage has never been more important. It is necessary to deeply and thoughtfully look at how our country is developing.”

The Belarusian Information Minister is convinced that reporters should be citizens of their country and should understand the responsibility for the news they deliver to the general public. “Only we can show Belarus as it is. Only we have the right to get together, discuss and work out approaches to various topical matters,” stressed the official.

“It is not easy to be a reporter. It cannot be learned once. Reporters need to learn their trade every day. They should enrich their moral and professional potential by competing in the information field,” summed up the official.

The fifth forum of young reporters is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 17-18 November. The event has been organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry, the Belarusian Union of Journalists, and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM).
