Belarusian General Staff chief to partake in CSTO Military Committee session in Astana

MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Defense Minister of Belarus, Major-General Oleg Belokonev will take part in the session of the Military Committee of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Astana, Kazakhstan on 13 April, the Defense Ministry press service told BelTA.

The session will focus on a number of matters relating to the organization of joint combat training exercises in 2018 and the organization of control over the CSTO collective forces. Kazakhstan's representative will present a report on priority avenues in the CSTO's work in the military field in the period of the country's presidency in the organization.

The decisions participants of the CSTO Military Committee session will make will help work out common approaches and mechanisms to develop the military component of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, said the source.
