Belarusian company eager to sell frozen bread to China

VITEBSK, 2 December (BelTA) – Mogilev bakers intend to sell their products to China, BelTA learned from Natalya Podlesnykh, Director General of the Mogilev-based bakery and confectionery company Domochay.

The executive said: “We regularly expand the export geography. We have recently started shipping frozen bread to the USA, Israel, and Turkmenistan. We are now working to start selling our products to China. We were in the country as part of an official delegation of Mogilev Oblast together with the oblast governor. And we also took part in an expo in Beijing a short while ago on our own. It is very difficult to conquer this market since Chinese are very careful people. But the market has a lot of promise because it is so large.”

Speaking about dietary habits of China residents, Natalya Podlesnykh remarked that the Chinese are now intent on diversifying their foods. “They are eager to eat what people in Europe and America eat. Besides, there is an interest in healthy and organic food in China,” said the Domochay Director General.

She stressed that Belarus has preserved its own bread baking traditions and now Belarusian bread is one of the country's icons. “We shouldn't abandon what has been achieved through great labor of the previous generations,” concluded Natalya Podlesnykh.

A national master class was arranged at premises of the bakery company Vitebskhlebprom in Vitebsk on 2 December. A contest of professional skills of bakers also took place there. The contest was arranged by the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
