Belarusian army's readiness to protect air border tested

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – The ability of the Air Force and Air Defense Command to protect the state border has been tested, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

A comprehensive test of the Belarusian army is in progress. The size of the actions and the troops involved is being gradually increased in line with the plan. The ability of air force and air defense units to protect the state air border was tested on 20 March. Duty units had to respond to control targets. The ability of command and control bodies to respond to air space violations was evaluated. More than seven flying vehicles operating at various altitudes — from extremely low to medium ones — were deployed as control targets. Air defense missile troops, radar units, and aircraft crews were involved in this part of the comprehensive test.

According to the source, the personnel of the duty forces demonstrated a high level of training. Radar units detected the control targets in a timely manner and fed the necessary data to air defense missile systems and aircraft crews, which in turn successfully intercepted and destroyed the aerial targets.
