Belarusian army officers inspect Lithuanian, Latvian army units

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – An inspection team from Belarus has inspected several army units of Latvia and Lithuania, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry website.

The Belarusian inspection team visited a Latvian army unit on 15 August and a Lithuanian army unit on 17 August for evaluation purposes. The visits were arranged in line with Belarus' bilateral agreements with Latvia and Lithuania on additional confidence- and security-building measures.

During the visit representatives of the Belarusian army could evaluate the information Latvia and Lithuania had submitted to the OSCE member states about the visited army units as part of the 2011 Vienna Document on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures. The Belarusian inspectors confirmed that Latvia and Lithuania honor their commitments.
