MINSK, 25 July (BelTA) - Belarusian school students won the silver and bronze medals at the 27th International Biology Olympiad IBO-2016 which was held in Vietnam from 17 to 24 July, BelTA learned from the press center of the Education Ministry of Belarus.
This year all Belarus participants came home with medals: Albert Voishevich, an 11th-grade student of the Belarusian State University lyceum got the silver. Bronze medals went to Denis Yarotsky, an 11th-grade student of the Belarusian State University lyceum, Anna Galkevich, an 11th-grade student of Minsk gymnasium No.12, and Polina Trus, an 11th-grade student Belarusian State University lyceum.
All in all, 252 students participated in Olympiad from 69 countries. The Olympiad was held in two rounds. First the students were asked to solve four sets of practical tasks, ranging from determining the species of butterflies and ending with the calculation of the dose of medication depending on the genetic characteristics of patients. The theoretical tour featured 100 multiple-choice questions from different topics in biology.
