Belarus wins Grand Prix of song contest in Rostov-on-Don

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Soloist of the Belarusian Armed Forces Academic Song and Dance Ensemble, laureate of various song contests Yekaterina Lazuka from Minsk has won the Grand Prix of the International Competition of Youth Song Performers in Rostov-on-Don, BelTA learned from the press service of the BRSM Youth Union.

Yekaterina Lazuka took accordion classes at a music school that she finished in 2006. In 2015 she graduated from the Minsk State College of Arts. The same year she became student of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts (music faculty).

The jury was impressed by another two Belarusians: Arina Kudryavtseva from Molodechno (first runner-up) and Zlata Larchenko from the village of Stankovo, Minsk Oblast (second runner-up).

The International Competition of Youth Song Performers is a key event of the 13th edition of the Youth for the Union State festival in Rostov-on-Don. Taking part in the festival this year were over 20 young vocalists who won the national selection in Belarus and Russia. Some 300 young hopefuls from all over Belarus submitted their applications for the national selection. However, only nine of them went to Rostov-on-Don.

The Youth for the Union State festival in Rostov-on-Don aims to identify and support talented young people, to create the single cultural space in the Union State, to strengthen friendly ties between the youth of Belarus and Russia, to promote the best ideas of the contemporary youth movement and to scale up cooperation between the youth unions of the two countries.
