Gabrovo, 31 August (BelTA - BTA) - More than 120 artisans from Bulgaria and abroad will participate in the 14th edition of the International Fair of Traditional Crafts which takes place from September 2 to 6 in the Etur architectural and ethnographic complex near Gabrovo.

The foreign artisans include craftsmen from Ukraine, Belarus, Serbia, Macedonia, Russia, Algeria, and Sudan, Etur Director Svetla Dimitrova said.

The fair will be held under the auspices of National Assembly Chairperson Tsetska Tsacheva. It is organized by the Culture Ministry, the Gabrovo Municipality and the Etur architectural and ethnographic complex.

The official opening of the event is at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday, September 3. A research conference about traditional crafts is to be held on September 2, when several exhibition will open as well.

Dimitrova noted that the fair is a museum product and not meant just for fun and entertainment. Strict requirements apply to showcased exhibits and crafts which need to be traditional, made according to old techniques and with the materials used in the respective time.

The highlight of this year's edition of the fair is a competition in the weaving of belts according to an old tradition.

Another highlight of the event are weaving techniques. Ninety-three-year old master weaver Stoyna Krustanova will have a solo exhibition.

Bulgarian folklore performances will be held during each day of the fair.
