Belarus, WHO Regional Office for Europe sign cooperation plan for 2020-2021

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian Healthcare Ministry and the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) signed a plan of cooperation for 2020-2021, BelTA learned from the press service of the Healthcare Ministry.

The document was signed during a meeting between a Belarusian delegation and WHO Regional Director for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab on the sidelines of the 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Belarusian delegation was led by Belarus Healthcare Minister Vladimir Karanik. He also met with heads of delegations and healthcare ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belgium, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. The meetings focused on current issues of cooperation in healthcare.

This year's session brought together over 500 high-ranking representatives of the 53 member states of the WHO European Region, partner and civil society organizations. The participants of the session analyzed the progress reached in public health.

During the session, Hans Kluge, a representative of Belgium, was nominated as the new WHO Regional Director for Europe, succeeding Zsuzsanna Jakab.
