Belarus-Uzbekistan culture and education center to open in Tashkent in September

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) - A Belarus-Uzbekistan education and culture center at the Nizami Tashkent State Pedagogical University will be opened in Tashkent in September, BelTA learned from the press center of Belarus' Education Ministry.

The Belarusian Education Days will be held in Uzbekistan in September, Belarus' Education Ministry informed. The center will be inaugurated during this event. Bilateral contacts in education have been gaining momentum, and more students from Uzbekistan come to study in Belarus, the press center noted. Tashkent hosted an international educationl exhibition in March this year which also featured Belarus' education sector.

Belarus' Education Minister Igor Karpenko took part in the Belarusian-Uzbek forum of business and interregional cooperation on 13 September. The minister signed an agreement on cooperation between the Belarusian Education Ministry and the Uzbek Ministry of Higher and Vocational Education. Under the agreement the parties will promote cooperation in higher education and encourage inter-university contacts. It is also expected that agreements will be signed between the major universities of Belarus and Uzbekistan during the visit.
