Belarus unanimously elected to BIE Executive Committee

MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) - Belarus was unanimously elected to the Executive Committee of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE). The decision was made during the 162nd session of the BIE General Assembly, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in France.

This is the first time in the history of Belarus' membership in the organization since 1960 that the country has become a member of the BIE governing body. This shows the recognition of the country's contribution to the international exhibition movement as an active participant of EXPO exhibitions.

“Being a member of the Executive Committee, Belarus will be able to participate in the formulation of important decisions on the rules of EXPO exhibitions aimed at enhancing their role in the development of political, economic, cultural and scientific ties, strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between countries and peoples,” the embassy said.

The International Exhibitions Bureau unites nearly 170 countries. The Executive Committee is composed of 12 representatives of member states elected by the General Assembly.
