Belarus-Turkey cultural ties praised as constantly strengthening

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – The cultural ties between Belarus and Turkey are becoming stronger year by year, Culture Minister Yuri Bondar said at the opening ceremony of the Days of Turkish Culture in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

According to the minister, the Days of Culture is a milestone event in the cultural life of the two countries, which shows a sincere interest in cultural achievements of the nations and the wish to develop and strengthen cooperation between the countries.

“The cooperation between Belarus and Turkey in culture is an important and dynamically developing area of bilateral cooperation. Cultural ties between our countries have been close in recent years. The traditions are becoming stronger year by year and are filled with new content in the form of real cultural projects. Events such as Days of National Culture help the people of Belarus and Turkey learn more about each other,” Yuri Bondar said.

While welcoming the guests of the evening, Turkey's Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Huseyin Yayman shared his impressions of Belarus, the country he was visiting for the first time. “During the working meetings in Minsk we have repeatedly stressed that the language of culture and art is a language of diplomacy that needs to be developed,” said Huseyin Yayman.

Minsk is hosting the Days of Turkish Culture in Belarus on 26-30 November. This is a return event as the Days of Belarusian Culture were held in Turkey last year.

On 27 November an exhibition of Turkish traditional folk crafts was opened in the Art Gallery of Mikhail Savitsky. The exhibition also features instrumental music, traditional Turkish outfit, and a photo exhibition about the history of Istanbul.

The official opening of the Days of Turkish Culture in Belarus took place at the Belarusian State Philharmonics on 28 November.

On 29 November a concert and a photo exhibition will mark the Turkish cultural days at the Palace of Culture in Molodechno.
