MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) - Belarusian summer children's camps will welcome 80 children from Syria for rest and recuperation holidays, Larisa Yemelyanchik, an adviser with the department for social, educational and ideological activities at the Education Ministry, told a press briefing in BelTA's press center.

“At the invitation of the head of state 80 children from Syria will come to Belarus for recuperation holidays. They will be accompanied by eight adults. Some children will stay in the national educational and health center Zubryonok and others will be hosted by the Rodnichok summer camp,” Larisa Yemelyanchik said.

The kids from Syria will arrive in Belarus on 14 August. “We are preparing to host the Syrian kids,” said Nadezhda Onufrieva, the director of the national children's educational and health center Zubryonok. “Our camp will host 40 kids and four accompanying adults. These are orphans, hostage survivors, children from shelters,” said Nadezhda Onufrieva.

The personnel of the Belarusian children's camps studied the issues regarding nutrition, clothing, and hygienic requirements. “We have prepared the rooms, personnel, translators, and drawn up a program of stay,” Nadezhda Onufrieva said.

Given that the children are recovering from emotional and physical traumas, the emphasis will be placed on health recuperation and rehabilitation. The kids will be examined in Minsk Oblast Children's Hospital in Borovlyany and will be provided with the necessary treatment. “Our camp has an advanced medical center. It provides balneotherapy and physiotherapy services, dental care and many more. We are well equipped to host the Syrian children and are looking forward to hosting them,” Nadezhda Onufrieva said.

The children from Syria will have an opportunity to learn more about Belarus. They will be offered a series of excursions to the country's iconic places: Mir Castle, Nesvizh, Naroch Lake and a trip to Minsk. “Our goal is to ensure socializing between kids. We will offer them an entertainment prorgam with all kinds of competitions and games. We have many facilities for children. They can jump on the trampoline, swim in the pool, ride bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards and gyroscooters, play football, handball and volleyball,” she said.
