Belarus to use Smolensk NPP management system practices

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) - Belarusian atomic scientists plan to use the experience of the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in the area of management systems. The matter was discussed during a visit of a delegation of the Belarusian nuclear power plant led by Deputy Director Yevgeny Chervyakov to the plant, BelTA learned from the Information and PR Department of the Smolensk NPP.

The specialists of the quality department and the planning and economic department of the NPP which is under construction in Ostrovets visited the Smolensk NPP to get information on the development of an integrated management system during the NPP operation. The meeting was held as part of the operating experience exchange program of the Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators.

“The Belarusian NPP team was interested in numerous areas, including an efficient warehouse economy, catering, medical examinations, psychophysiological examination of the personnel, transport services. The biggest interest was in the implementation of an integrated management system,” Deputy Chief Engineer of the Smolensk NPP Alexei Belyavsky said.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built using the Russian standard Generation III+ design AES-2006 near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2019, with the second one to go online in 2020.
