Belarus to show its arts and crafts during European Games 2019 in Minsk

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – Belarus' National History Museum will put up an interactive exhibition about folk art of Belarusians during the 2nd European Games 2019, BelTA learned from the director of the museum Pavel Sapotko.

“We will set up a Belarusian cultural center in the Athletes' Village and put up an exhibition there which I think will be interesting for athletes and foreign tourists. We plan to show the Belarusian national costume, arts and crafts,” Pavel Sapotko said.

The museum is preparing several interactive programs for the upcoming sports event. Guests will be able to try their hand at potter's wheel, weaving belts, etc. According to Pavel Sapotko, this will diversify the cultural program of the games and will show a rich, diverse culture of Belarusian people, not only its origins but also modern achievements in various sectors. All exhibits and materials will be provided by the National History Museum.

Other multimedia historical and cultural projects will include an innovative exposition complex “Treasures of the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus”. This expo will be made in the form of a book with digital projection images of the museum's treasures made using the so-called video-mapping technology. A multimedia project about the Kreva Castle is also in the works.

The Museum of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, the Belarusian State Academy of Arts and the Belarusian Union of Artists will showcase a special project during the games. The exposition will feature ethnographic items from the National History Museum and the works of famous Belarusian artists. “The aim of the exhibition is to demonstrate our culture, history. Fortunately, we have much to be proud of,” Pavel Sapotko said.
