Belarus to present report on elimination of discrimination against women in Geneva

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) – Marianna Shchetkina, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, Chairwoman of the Belarusian Women's Union, will attend the 65th Session of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women in Geneva. The information is posted on the website of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament.

Marianna Shchetkina will present the eighth periodic report of the Republic of Belarus on the implementation of the provisions of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.

The Vice Speaker will also take part in the general debate on the topic “Human rights abuses as precursors of conflict: Parliaments as early responders” to be held as part of the 135th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva.

Marianna Shchetkina will be in Switzerland till 29 October.
