Belarus to participate in SCO chiefs of staff conference in Moscow

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – A Belarusian army delegation led by Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister, Major-General Oleg Belokonev will take part in a conference of the chiefs of staff of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states in Moscow on 28 August, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry website.

During the conference a representative of the General Staff of the Russian army is expected to make a report about the military political situation and activities of international terrorist organizations in crisis regions across the globe. Opinions will be exchanged about topical matters of international and regional security.

Apart from that, on 29 August the Belarusian delegation will participate in watching the active phase of the joint counterterrorism command staff exercise Peace Mission 2018 in Chebarkul, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was established in 2011. The member states are India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Belarus is an observer in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
