Belarus to inform European Commission about nuclear power plant stress test results

OSTROVETS, 20 September (BelTA) – Belarus will inform the European Commission about results of stress tests of the nuclear power plant in Ostrovets, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk on 20 September.

“Our technical requirements for carrying out the stress tests are fully compliant with European requirements. Results of the tests will be forwarded to the European Commission as a national report,” noted Mikhail Mikhadyuk.

The organization of stress tests was in the center of attention during meetings with the European Commission delegation led by Deputy Director General for Energy Gerassimos Thomas on 19-20 September. “We have informed Mr Thomas and he made sure that we are working on the stress tests now, specialists are already busy evaluating,” said the official.

Apart from the implementation of the nuclear program the sides managed to discuss a large number of matters concerning cooperation in power engineering. An agreement on future cooperation was reached, added Mikhail Mikhadyuk.
