Belarus to host Sardinia Education and Science Days on 2-3 March

MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – Minsk will host the Education and Science Days of Sardinia, Italy on 2-3 March, BelTA learned from Belarus' General Consulate in the Italian City of Cagliari.

A Sardinian delegation led by aide to the President of Sardinia Marco Seki and prorector for international relations of Cagliari University Alessandra Carucci will visit Minsk to take part in the celebrations. Honorary Consul of Belarus to Cagliari Giuseppe Carboni will accompany the Sardinian delegation. “The program of the visit features participation in the plenary session “Higher Education in Belarus and Sardinia: the current state and cooperation prospects”; negotiations in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian State University. The talks will focus on the prospects of joint research studies, academic exchange of students and teaching staff, and organization of internships for the latter,” the Honorary Consulate informed. The parties will also discuss the participation of Belarus' education institutions in the scholarship programs of Cagliari University for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students and the implementation of joint Erasmus+ program projects.

The Education and Science Days will be held as part of the 2017 Year of Science in Belarus. The event will also mark the 25th anniversary of Belarus-Italy diplomatic relations. The celebrations are aimed to intensify Belarus-Sardinia bilateral cooperation in research and education and to prepare a specific program of bilateral cooperation between Cagliari University and the universities of Belarus.

According to the source, the Autonomous Region of Sardinia leads in terms of the number of cooperation projects implemented in humanitarian, cultural, and education areas. “It is important that, according to the joint initiative by the regional government of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and the Honorary Consulate of Belarus to Sardinia, the year 2017 was proclaimed the Year of Belarusian Culture in Sardinia,” the source noted. It was also mentioned that Sardinia supports the youth trade programs at the training, professional development and retraining center Sardinia Global in Belarus. The region also assists in the implementation of the training program on tourism management with a possibility to get an internship in Sardinia.
