Belarus to host IAEA nuclear infrastructure review mission in 2019

OSTROVETS, 20 April (BelTA) - Belarus is planning to host the IAEA nuclear infrastructure review mission in 2019, Belarus Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk told the media on 20 April, BelTA has learned.

An Emergency Preparedness Review (EPREV) mission will come to Belarus in 2018. Preparations are underway for an Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) mission and a Pre-Operational Safety Review Team (Pre-OSART) mission which are scheduled for 2019.

In Q1 2017 Belarus hosted two IAEA expert missions on the management of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel and the creation of decommissioning funds. This year the IAEA is planning a mission on the development of control systems for the nuclear power plant, a workshop on the safety culture of the operating organization, a workshop on economic aspects of the storage of spent nuclear fuel, and a number of other training seminars.
