Belarus' State Forensics Committee, Russia's Interior Ministry sign agreement on cooperation

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) - The State Forensic Examination Committee of Belarus and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia have signed an agreement on cooperation in forensics, BelTA learned from official representative of the State Forensic Examination Committee of Belarus Anna Zhdanova.

Experts of the two countries will be able to exchange experience in the developing areas of their activity, hold joint research, provide practical and methodic mutual assistance. They will share criminalistic information which is especially important in crime prevention today. The joint work of forensic expects helped Belarus and Russia detect and bring to justice the person that committed a series of rapes from 1999 to 2004 in Brest Oblast, Minsk Oblast, and also Leningrad Oblast of Russia.

The Russian counterparts got familiar with the material and technical base of the State Forensic Examination Committee. According to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Arkadiy Gostev, the experts took note of the results of the performed activities, good experience in drugs research. The agreement signed on 12 October envisages mutual assistance.

The recent meeting and signing the agreement on cooperation in forensics have become a further contribution to strengthening of relations of friendship and cooperation.
