Belarus' Sharkovshchina District, Russia's Pskov District sign twinning agreement

MOGILEV, 31 March (BelTA) – Sharkovshchina District of Belarus' Vitebsk Oblast and Pskov District of Russia's Pskov Oblast signed a friendship agreement during the 9th meeting of the Belarusian and Russian sister cities held in Mogilev on 31 March. The document was signed by Chairman of the Sharkovshchina District Executive Committee Nikolai Bogovich and Head of the Pskov District Administration Vladimir Lavrenov, BelTA has learned.

According to Vladimir Lavrenov, the agreement should give a new impetus to the long-time bilateral cooperation of the two districts. “We intend to consistently exchange information on the life, culture and traditions of our districts. We would like to involve in this process different institutions and organizations, local media and population. We will also promote bilateral dialogue and mutually beneficial economic cooperation, attract investment to the districts, exchange working experience in various fields and implement joint projects,” Vladimir Lavrenov said.

“Our districts decided to start with learning more about each other, exchanging delegations, exploring our possibilities and outlining promising avenues of collaboration. Thereafter, we will carry out real projects according to the agreements concluded. We are sure that these measures will encourage the development of both territories and will raise living standards in our districts,” Nikolai Bogovich pointed out.
