Belarus-Russia twintown meeting opens with flower ceremony in Podolsk

PODOLSK, 27 November (BelTA) - The eighth meeting of Belarusian and Russian twin towns to mark the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory opened with a flower ceremony at the Eternal Light of the Glory Memorial in Podolsk, Moscow Oblast on 27 November, BelTA informs.

The meeting will highlight cooperation between twin towns of Belarus and Russia necessary for the development of economic, investment, innovative and social projects in the Eurasian Economic Union.

The meeting of Russian and Belarusian twin towns has a 17-year history. The first one was held in Gomel in 1998. Moscow Oblast is yet the only region that has host the forum for the second time.

The Belarusian delegation is led by member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Belarusian public organization Twinned Towns Boris Batura. The event has gathered about 200 representatives of Belarusian and Russian cities. The delegation of Moscow Oblast has the biggest representation in the Russian delegation. A total of 137 Russian cities maintain twin town relations with Belarusian cities.
