Belarus, Russia to put a stop to substandard products together

MOSCOW, 23 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia intend to work together to prevent hazardous and poor-quality products from reaching each other's markets, BelTA learned from the press service of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia after a Belarusian-Russian conference on technical regulation, standardization, and oversight. The conference took place in the Business and Cultural Complex of the embassy on 23 January.

Participants of the conference discussed the advancement of Belarus-Russia cooperation in standardization, including joint approaches to interstate standardization for the purpose of technical regulation in the Eurasian Economic Union among other things. Prospects of working together to bring order in conformance evaluation were considered as well as prospects of joint actions in the sphere of oversight for the sake of keeping hazardous and substandard products away from the Belarusian and Russian markets.

Chairman of the State Standardization Committee of Belarus Viktor Nazarenko, his Russian counterpart Aleksei Abramov, representatives of the Belarusian State Standardization Institute, and the Belarusian State Accreditation Center took part in the conference.
