Belarus, Russia to hold Unity Day events on 31 March

MOSCOW, 30 March (BelTA) – Celebrations in honor of the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia will take place in Minsk and Moscow on 31 March, BelTA learned from the Permanent Committee of the Belarus-Russia Union State.

"On 2 April Belarus and Russia celebrate the Day of Unity which was established by the decree of the presidents of the two countries. The Day of Unity demonstrates the desire of the brotherly peoples to promote integration and to keep common spiritual heritage. Main celebrations are traditionally held in the best concert halls and are attended by heads of the government bodies, statesmen, political and public figures," representatives of the Permanent Committee said.

Festive events dedicated to the Day of Unity will be held on 31 March in Bolshoi Theater of Belarus in Minsk and in Bolshoi Theater of Russia in Moscow. The program in Minsk include an official part and Eugene Glebov's ballet "Le Petit Prince" in Minsk gala evening's program while the Moscow audience will see George Balanchine's ballet "Jewels".

A video link will connect the two capitals on 31 March. State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota will answer questions of journalists in a Moscow studio while Ivan Bambiza, Vice Secretary of the Union State and Sergei Misyurov, a deputy head of the Permanent Committee Office of the Union State in Minsk, will answer questions in a Minsk studio.

Different events will be held in regions of the two countries to mark the Day of Unity.
