Belarus, Russia to discuss mutual visa recognition agreement on 30 November

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – The interstate ministerial working group to develop recommendations for the coherent migration policy in the Belarus-Russia Union State will meet in Brest, Belarus on 30 November. The draft Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on mutual recognition of visas will be also on the agenda, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Interior Ministry.

According to the ministry, the working group will take stock of the progress in the implementation of the international and interdepartmental agreements. The working group will also focus on a number of other relevant issues. Thus, experts will review the progress in the preparation of the agreement between the governments of Belarus and Russia on the mutual recognition of visas. “Taking into account the forthcoming 2nd European Games in Minsk, we are planning to discuss the interaction between the competent authorities to ensure smooth movement across the border of the participants of the competitions and foreign tourists,” the Interior Ministry said.

The Belarusian delegation will include representatives of the Interior Ministry, the State Border Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State Security Committee. The Belarusian delegation will be led Deputy Interior Minister Nikolai Melchenko. The Russian delegation will be headed by First Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Gorovoy.
