Belarus, Russia mull over joint project in pharmacogenetics

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – Belarusian and Russian scientists are considering the implementation of a joint project in pharmacogenetics, BelTA learned from pro-rector on development and innovations of the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Sychev who took part in the Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences section of the Second Congress of Scientists of Belarus.

The project is devoted to the search for molecular-genetic markers for the purpose of developing medical products that improve the quality of life of drug addicts with psychotic disorders. This help work out personalized approaches to the choice of medications.

The application is under consideration. The joint scientific project will be implemented under a grant program of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research. The research will be placed into real clinical practice, while the corresponding experience in the field of personalized healthcare will be penetrated to other areas.

Belarusian and Russian scientists enjoy close ties in education. A cooperation agreement has been concluded between the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (BelMAPO) and the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. At the Congress of Scientists, Russian counterparts have established contacts with the Council of Young Scientists of BelMAPO. Belarusians plan to take part in the conference of young scientists in Moscow. Young scientists from Russia are interested in taking part in a similar conference in Minsk.

The Russian academy plans to launch the publication of the scientific and methodical electronic magazine Pedagogy of Professional Medical Education. Belarusian specialists have been invited to join the editorial board of the magazine.

Minsk is hosting the Second Congress of Scientists of Belarus on 12-13 December. The Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences section was held at the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education on 13 December.
