Belarus-Russia journalism school opens in Grodno

GRODNO, 21 September (BelTA) – The journalism school Masterskaya BY-RU opened in Grodno on 21 September, BelTA has learned.

The project is co-implemented by the Belarusian Union of Journalists and the Russian community of journalists Druzya-Syabry as a follow-up to the agreements reached at the 19th World Congress of Russian Press held in Minsk in July 2017. The new school is meant to help advance professional standards in journalism, promote modern high-quality information products through improving the expertise of journalists, editors, mass media managers, and PR specialists.

The school will operate at the editorial office of the Grodzenskaya Prauda newspaper from September 2017 to May 2018. The teachers will be famous Belarusian and Russian journalists.

The program envisages lectures, master classes, seminars, business games, creative tasks, and the like. The participants will be given certificates upon completion of the training program.

The first class was given by Vladimir Mamontov, the big-name Russian journalist, and Vadim Gigin, Secretary of the Belarusian Union of Journalists, Head of the Philosophy and Social Studies Faculty of Belarusian State University. Vladimir Mamontov shared his secrets of the profession and Vadim Gigin presented the analysis of current trends in mass media.
