Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva Yuri Ambrazevich met with UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe to discuss cooperation prospects, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Michel Sidibe praised Belarus' achievements in countering HIV/AIDS. He stressed that Belarus is among the leaders in Eastern Europe and the CIS in terms of prevention and treatment of the disease,” the press service said.

UNAIDS Executive Director expressed confidence that the Belarusian government will continue taking effective measures at the national level and will make a significant contribution to international efforts to tackle HIV and AIDS.

For his part, Yuri Ambrazevich praised the work of the UNAIDS offices in Minsk and Moscow.
