Belarus prime minister wants genuine accomplishments in efforts to create more jobs

BOBRUISK, 5 April (BelTA) – The creation of new jobs at Belarusian enterprises should not become profanation and a race for statistics, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov in Mogilev Oblast on 5 April.

Andrei Kobyakov reminded that 70,000 new jobs have to be created in Belarus this year. “We keep an eye on efforts to create new jobs. I know that the State Control Committee has received the relevant instruction as well. It is crucial that this work should not become profanation, a race for statistical figures, good figures on paper without real accomplishments,” stressed the Prime Minister.

The Belarusian head of government noted that active work to create new enterprises and jobs is in progress in all the regions. There are plans to create 1,200 new jobs in Bobruisk where the prime minister was made familiar with the state of affairs at industrial enterprises on 5 April. “But there is another aspect to it. The number of people, who get fired, exceeds the number of people, who get hired for now. In other words, the number of employed Belarusians is falling. There can be different reasons for it, including demographic ones,” added Andrei Kobyakov.

“The creation of new jobs is one of the key matters. We are working hard on it. We closely track the quality of fulfillment of this instruction. Jobs are a priority and a source of our economic development in accordance with the country's development program for the period till 2020,” concluded Andrei Kobyakov.

On 5 April the prime minister is expected to visit a number of industrial enterprises in Bobruisk — OAO Legpromrazvitiye, Belshina, and Bobruisk Plant of Tractor Parts and Units.
