Belarus, Poland to sign new package of agreements

MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Poland intend to sign a package of new agreements to advance cooperation, BelTA learned from Vladimir Ulakhovich, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, before the 20th Belarusian-Polish economic forum Good Neighborliness 2016 began on 24 October.

In particular, agreements will be signed as a result of the Good Neighborliness 2016 forum. “Today agreements and memorandums of cooperation will be signed with our regional administrations. The preliminary number is six agreements and contracts,” said the head of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Describing the dynamics of Belarusian-Polish cooperation, Vladimir Ulakhovich noted that in 2015 the Polish private sector invested $194 million in the Belarusian economy, with $117 million invested in January-September 2016. “We see positive dynamics of cooperation due to Belarus playing a special role in the Eurasian Economic Union. On the one hand, we are a door to the Union, on the other hand, we are an industrial player, an industrial heart in the Eurasian Economic Union. This is why we offer a very good platform for our partners from Europe with a view to opening joint enterprises, creating products with Belarusian added value and promoting them both to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union,” stressed the official.

The Belarusian-Polish economic forum Good Neighborliness 2016 is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 24 October. The event has been arranged for the sake of advancing Belarus-Poland trade and economic cooperation and for invigorating manufacturing cooperation ties between the two countries in various branches of the economy. The forum will include a plenary session and three panel sessions. The latter will focus on interregional cooperation and development, advantages and risks in creating a favorable investment climate, and open economy and market protection with regard to business operation terms. A business matchmaking session will be held for representatives of the Belarusian and Polish private sectors. About 500 people are expected to take part in the business part of the forum from the Belarusian and Polish sides. It is a record high number that testifies to the genuine interest of Belarus and Poland in stepping up cooperation, stressed the Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
