Belarus, Poland to continue cooperation in environment

MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – The cooperation between Belarus and Poland in environment was discussed during a working meeting between Belarus' Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister Andrei Khudyk and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Belarus Artur Michalski, BelTA learned from the ministry's website.

Andrei Khudyk said that Belarus and Poland have accumulated considerable practical experience of cooperation in the field of environmental protection. “Environment knows no boundaries. So we will continue to develop our cooperation in this area,” he said. Both sides reaffirmed interest in further deepening of fruitful interaction.

Belarus and Poland have established working groups on the UNESCO Transboundary World Heritage Site “Belovezhskaya Pushcha”, on water resources. The tasks are solved successfully. There is also the Western Bug River Basin Council, the cross-border coordination council of the Belarusian-Polish-Ukrainian biosphere reserve West Polesie. The parties hold joint scientific research to preserve the European bison in Poland and Belarus, and engage in a number of other joint activities.
