Belarus places second at international parliamentary games in Moscow

MINSK, 13 November (BelTA) - A team of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus placed second at the international parliamentary games held in Moscow on 9-13 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The sports programs included competitions in mini football, tennis, table tennis, chess, badminton and billiards. The team of Belarusian MPs placed second overall, losing to Russian colleagues. MPs from Latvia came in third.

The Belarusian delegation held meetings in the Federation Council and a roundtable in the State Duma as part of the official program. The parties discussed the topical issues of legal regulation in the environmental field, exchanged the experience in improving waste management, conservation of water, forest and land resources, development of protected systems. Meetings were also held with the members of the Russian government and Moscow mayor's office.

The international parliamentary games have been held annually since 2009 on the initiative of the State Duma's committee on physical education and sport. The goal is to strengthen friendship, promote sport and healthy lifestyle and to establish contacts with MPs from other coutnries.
