Belarus, Pakistan to open joint vocational education center in Islamabad

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – A joint Belarusian-Pakistani vocational education center will open in Islamabad, Belarusian Education Minister Mikhail Zhuravkov said at a ceremony to sign a memorandum between the Belarusian Education Ministry and Roots International Schools (Pakistan) on 28 October, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and Pakistan are rapidly strengthening their cooperation in education. Some time ago we discussed the possibility of establishing a new joint center that would integrate different levels of vocational education, college and university training,” Mikhail Zhuravkov noted.

The minister said a few words about the new center and pointed out that a representative of Pakistan expressed hope that the center will extend its activities beyond Pakistan's borders.

Another memorandum was signed between Roots International Schools and the Belarusian Institute for Vocational Education. The parties agreed that Belarus will share with a Pakistani university its best practices for training of students in blue-collar professions using English as the language of instruction. The Pakistani organization also concluded an agreement with Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics to introduce programs that are offered in Pakistan.

Walid Mushtaq, CEO of Roots International Schools, said that he visited a number of Belarusian kindergartens, schools and other types of academic institutions during his visit to Belarus. He noted that they provide high-quality training thanks to their well-developed programs, technologies and infrastructure. “We would like to follow a similar education model in Pakistan,” Walid Mushtaq noted.

He noted that the joint education center that will open in Pakistan soon will “not only help young people become good specialists, but also contribute to the cultural exchange between our countries.”

The parties agreed to hold a student exchange program in the near future. The National Children's Center Zubryonok will host a delegation of Pakistani children in sumer 2017, and Belarusian school students will visit Pakistan.
