Belarus, Pakistan to intensify cooperation in science and technology

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Pakistan will intensify cooperation in science and technology, Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Mian Raza Rabbani told reporters after the meeting in Minsk on 2 February, BelTA informs.

“We will begin with the implementation of various projects in science and technology. Besides, we will do our best to intensify our cooperation in youth exchange, organization of various educational programs as it is of special interest for our country,” Mian Raza Rabbani said.

Pakistan is also interested in the development of regional cooperation. As for the economic projects and investment cooperation, specialized ministries will focus on it in the near future.

Mikhail Myasnikovich confirmed that the interaction in the abovementioned areas meets the interests of the two countries. To intensify cooperation, plans have been made to ratify a number of agreements which have been already signed, including the agreements on the mutual protection of investments, in the near future. “To help our companies step up their work on the markets, the governments and parliaments will provide assistance in the regulation of trade regimes. First of all, this pertains to import duties, the mechanisms to support mutual trade and investments,” the chairman of the Council of the Republic said. Belarus is already increasing the export of tractors to Pakistan and is ready to boost the deliveries of freight vehicles and quarry equipment.
