Belarus offers help to Russia with investigation of St Petersburg terrorist attack

MINSK, 4 April (BelTA) – The Investigative Committee of Belarus is ready to provide assistance to the Russian colleagues with the investigation of the Saint Petersburg metro bombing. The information is available on the website of Belarus' Investigative Committee, BelTA has learned.

The relevant letter was sent to Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin.

It was with great sadness and pain that the Investigative Committee of Belarus learned about the tragedy that took place in Saint Petersburg on 3 April.

The Investigative Committee condemns the criminal act. Realizing the need for joint effort to effectively counter such acts and considering its experience in the investigation of acts of terrorism, Belarus' Investigative Committee is ready to assist the law enforcement authorities of the Russian Federation with the investigation of the terrorist attack that, according to preliminary information, hurt a citizen of Belarus.

Representatives of the Investigative Committee of Belarus with expertise in the investigation of high-profile crimes, including the Minsk metro bombing, may be sent to Saint Petersburg if needed.

The Investigative Committee reaffirms its readiness to promptly execute orders to provide legal assistance with the case and conduct any investigative or other proceedings in the territory of Belarus if necessary.
