Belarus' National Art Museum to open sport-themed exhibition

MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – The National Art Museum of Belarus will launch a large exhibition project dedicated to sport ahead of the Night of Museums (due on 18 May), BelTA learned from Academic Secretary of the museum Svetlana Aneyko.

“A sport-themed exhibition is particularly relevant in the run-up to the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019. Its working name is “The Games”. The exposition will occupy the whole first floor of the main building. Five halls will feature a lot of painting, graphics, and sculpture works from holdings of our museum, other Minsk museums, and private collections. The exhibition will be on display till 3 July,” the academic secretary noted.

During the Night of Museums, the National Art Museum will focus on the senses. “We invite to go beyond the common five senses. To understand features of the sixth dimension we will turn visitors' attention to the sensual component of art,” Svetlana Aneyko said. “On 18 May, the museum will work from 18:00 till 24:00. We are determining the price for a single ticket giving access to the Night of Museums event as well as to the Salvador Dali exhibition,” she added.

The National Art Museum will also hold the 17th International Scientific Conference "Aladov's Readings" timed to the 80th anniversary of the museum on 24 May. “The conference will consist of two sections. The first one will invite participants to study the museum holdings and review the latest research of the Belarusian and world art. The second section will deal with contemporary museum practices: museum pedagogy, interactive programs, exhibition projects, strategies of communication with visitors,”the academic secretary noted.

The conference will bring together art historians, museum and culture experts, renovators, specialists from related sectors. The organizing committee will accept applications for participation and presentation annotations via the museum e-mail address till 13 May.

Svetlana Aneyko also unveiled a small exhibition project dedicated to the International Nurses Day which will run in May. The project will be organized in cooperation with the Belarusian Red Cross Society.
