Belarus, Moldova to step up cooperation in fight against corruption, drug trafficking

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) - The Prosecutor General's Offices of Belarus and Moldova will strengthen cooperation in the fight against corruption and drug trafficking. The agreement on cooperation was signed by the heads of the supervisory agencies of the two countries, Alexander Konyuk and Eduard Harunjen, in Chisinau on 19 April, BelTA learned from the Prosecutor's Office of Belarus.

The agreement regulates the interaction in ensuring the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, the fight against crime, including its organized and transnational forms like terrorism, extremism, corruption, trafficking in arms, narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, trafficking in human beings. The document provides for the exchange of experience, normative legal acts. The document also envisages the cooperation in matters of confiscation and return of assets obtained by criminal means.

“Closer professional relations will significantly strengthen the positions of the procuracy bodies in combating crime, in particular economic and high technology crime,” Alexander Konyuk said.

Belarus' Prosecutor General is visiting Chisinau as part of the Belarusian official national delegation headed by President Alexander Lukashenko.
