MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – There is no information about Belarusian nationals among the victims of the terror attack in Barcelona, BelTA learned from the Twitter account of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“There is no information about Belarusian nationals among the victims of the terror attack in Barcelona. The Belarusian embassy continues to closely monitor the situation in the country,” the message reads.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus advises Belarusian nationals in Barcelona to follow the recommendations of the Spanish authorities and get in touch with their relatives. The hotline opened by the Spanish authorities is + 34 902400012. An additional hotline, +34900400012, was opened to verify the information about the people who were caught in the terror attack in the Spanish capital.
As was reported earlier, thirteen people died and more than a hundred were hurt when a van hit crowds in the Las Ramblas area of Barcelona on Thursday evening, 17 August. Among those injured are citizens of 18 countries. The Islamic State terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Two suspects have been arrested.
In the early morning hours of 18 August police stopped a second vehicle attack in the resort south of Barcelona, killing five terrorist suspects said to be linked to the Las Ramblas attack. Seven people have been injured.
Three days of mourning have been declared for the victims of the attack in Barcelona.
